Product Information

Contains inactivated standard Salmonella pullorum organisms in a suitable aqueous base to retain the antigens in suspension.
Indications
For screening Salmonella-positive carrier birds by using the plate agglutination test.
Shelf Life
24 months from date of manufacture.
Storage
Between 2 to 8°C. Do not freeze.

Instructions

Bring the bottle to room temperature. Shake the bottle well before use. Transfer the antigen from the bottle to the small dropper bottle supplied. A drop of antigen is put on a screening glass plate. Wing vein is to be punctured with the help of Salmonella bleeding lancet and loop full blood is to be collected and put close to the drop of antigen on the glass plate. With the help of the loop, a drop of blood and a drop of antigen should be mixed and examined for clump formation (agglutination). If clump formation occurs within one minute after mixing, the bird under test is to be treated as a positive reactor (Carrier bird). If there is no clumping observed the bird can be treated as negative. Rinse the loop and needle of the Salmonella bleeding lancet with distilled water or saline to use it for the next bird.

Note -The Positive reactor birds should be sacrificed & the samples tissue should be submitted to the diagnostic lab for confirmation by isolation.
